Golubnjača cave (GC) – Croatia

Golubnjača is a branched cave in the canyon of the Korana River. The entrance is 475 m above sea level. With its length of 165 meters, the Golubnjača cave is the longest cave in the Plitvice Lakes National Park out of a total of more than a hundred explored speleological objects. The cave was designed for tourism before WW2 and was open to visitors in the past, but after the Homeland War it was closed to visitors for preservation purposes. A special feature of the cave compared to other locations is the ascending channel, which is interesting for researching the microclimate, especially air circulation and CO2 dynamics.
