This was an important trip because we finally managed to install a number of CO2 monitoring instruments into the Postojna caves system. These instruments continuously monitor the CO2 concentrations of the air and water, simultaneously, providing field data that are critical to our understanding of the CO2 budget of the cave system and karst massif. Additionally, Franci and Vanessa carried out spot measurements of CO2 concentrations and water geochemistry. The first data from the previously installed CO2 monitoring instruments were downloaded and, thankfully, showed that the instruments were functioning correctly.
